A Study on the development of the special health screening for underwater naval workers


Abstract
Background:
@EN This study was conducted to evaluate the special health screening for improving and maintaining healthful living and working conditions of underwater naval workers.
@ES Methods:
@EN Data were collected from 336 underwater naval workers by using a structured questionnaire.
@ES Results:
@EN 1) The route of taking medical counsel for medical problem and knowledge as follows: mass media(46.7%),friends(21.6%), medial officers(21.2%), family(1.2%), etc. (8.3%), no response(8.9%).
2) Most common medical complaint from underwater naval workers was back pain and skin diseases.
3) Underwater naval workers thought that the most complaining item among present screening items was bone X-ray and the helpful item was hematologic analysis.
4) Most common working problem was knee and back pain in divers and was respiratory problems in submariners.
@ES Conclusion:
@EN Underwater naval workers wanted more practical and reliable health screening test. Therefore, the special health screening test requires personal medical records or medical questionnaire for understanding medical history and accurate
diagnosis.
In
addition, we should prepare a medical support program which is suitable for the special working conditions.
